Career and Musical Achievements:
Frankie Valli has had one of the most enduring, diverse, and influential careers in the history of pop music. He joined the Variety Trio in 1951 and, after working with several bands during the ’50s, eventually became the lead singer of The Four Seasons. Valli developed a songwriting partnership with Bob Gaudio and enjoyed a string of hits through the 1960s.
Valli launched his solo career in the mid-1960s when he was still the frontman of the Season. His hit single “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” reached number two in the charts and earned him a Grammy nomination. He reached number one again with “My Eyes Adored You” in 1975. Valli recorded the theme song for the 1975 blockbuster film Grease written by Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees.
Valli was diagnosed with otosclerosis in 1967. Informed by doctors that he would soon become deaf, his hearing deteriorated to the point that he could hardly hear the music during live concerts. After undergoing a series of operations in the late 1970s, Valli’s hearing was miraculously restored and he still continues to perform and record.
